Circa: late 1800's Condition: Good++ Manufacturer: Herring Brothers London
This is a unique shaped carving chisel that is 1/4" wide at the cutting edge, flat across the cutting edge, with a bent front, tapering back from the cutting edge to the shank area. This one is marked "HERRING BROS. LONDON PRIZE METALS 24" on the steel. The mark is slightly blurred but readable. We believe this to be an English toolmaker during the late 1800's to early 1900's era. It is 9.25" long overall, sharp, ready to use condition, no rust or pitting, and and has the English style 8 sided hardwood handle, in good solid, nice looking condition. A very hard to find style in great shape overall! |
