Manufacturer: Vintage Cookie Cutters
This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1940s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a diamond. It measures about 3 1/4 inches greatest length (from one diamond point to the opposite diamond point), 2 1/8 inches wide (again from point to point) and sits about 1 1/2 inches in height to the top of the wood handle.
The wood handle is firmly attached to the aluminum part (there is no "play" to this handle vs. the base as seen with some of the other cookie cutters). However, it may be that the handle was re-attached here as you can see on the underside that the handle is being held to the aluminum part via a Phillips Head screw (this is how we got it out of a home)....usually the cookie cutters are held together by a smooth curved connecting piece which one could not insert a screw driver into. The outer edges of the cutter are vertically ridged or have a tight scalloping.
This old cookie cutter came out of a home and was likely used, but is in great shape for its age. While there are no large dents here and the topside aluminum appears largely flat, it has been pushed in slightly in the handle area from use. You can see this slight indent when viewing from the side and underside, which is supported by the fact that the base does not sit absolutely flat when placed on a table, it wobbles slightly and one end nets up in the air slightly (not bad at all, but you should know this). Along the base rim there is a bit of very tiny chipping on some of the scalloping, but not bad at all. The aluminum does show age/use/wear via lots of scratches (including on the underside, in particular around the screw supporting its replacement), rubbed spots, some pin dots/pit dots/dark dots, other expected general wear, but nothing unexpected for an old used piece. The green wood handle is in terrific shape, with minor wear including a few tiny line indents, some minor darkening, wear to the top rim of the wood (not bad at all), etc. A neat old, used look that supports the age.
Fun cookie cutter to complete your set of playing card symbol cookie cutters or just a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles. With the holes in the aluminum top, a crafty person could also string wire and hang this as an ornament on a Christmas tree as a fun addition.
Please note that we have other cookie cutters and many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you). |
