Circa: early 1900's Condition: Good Manufacturer: W. Scollhorn New Haven Conn. U.S.A.
This is a good, clean, antique wing divider marked by the maker, "W.S. CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. MADE IN U.S.A. LODI" on one side near the pivot pin, and also marked "PATENTED OCT 17.1905 DEC.5.05" on the other side of the pivot pin frame. There is some minor wear, but it is clean, sharp points, snug pivot, good threaded features, and in good usable condition overall. We note one wing nut screw has been brazed in place, works fine, but not originally brazed in place. A very nice design with the fine adjustment feature. This particular style is unique and it is pressed steel construction, where most wing dividers are cast steel. The tips are solid for about 1.0" back from the tip. The points are good and the joint is snug, all the adjustment work correctly as intended. Some minor pitting noted hear and there, none effecting use. A hard to find medium capacity model! We don't see many like this one! |
