Circa: 1930's Condition: Good+ Manufacturer: HENRY DISSTON & SONS PHILADELPHIA
This is a good clean 26" long blade, crosscut hand-saw marked,"8" just below the handle on the steel, and *DISSTON USA*" on the nickel plated medallion on the handle. Nice carved handle with finish wear, some light scratch, two letter past owner initials, clean finish no cracks in the wood, very solid. The hardware appears clean and in good condition. The blade is about 96% straight, just about perfect, cuts just fine, with light staining, with no blade etch. The teeth are in very good condition, none missing about 95% sharpness. Not as old as others I have for sale, but from the 1930's, very good quality, will make a good user saw. The D-23 lightweight features the tapered blade, meaning that the blade is .042" near the teeth, and .032 –.038" near the straight back edge, this reduces drag and the need for the teeth to be set. A top quality finish saw in nice condition overall! |
