This is a nice clean used Starrett Toolmakers' Surface Gage No. 56 with the 4 & 7 inch long spindles and the auxiliary guide as well. This one has the gun bluing type of finish on the base and it also has the name of the maker THE L.S. STARRETT CO. ATHOL MASS. U.S.A. on the base, and a light etch past owner's name. We rarely see the guides with these vintage surface gages and so they are considered rare as is the two spindle lengths that are included. As you can see the double ended scribe is as sharp and in very nice condition like the rest. |
