This is a top quality, beveled socket firmer chisel marked STANLEY NO. 720 MADE IN U.S.A. on the steel. It measures 12.8 inch long x 1.0 inch wide. The steel alone is 8.3 inch long. If you are wondering about the quality of Stanley No. 720 chisels, I would rate them as top shelf. The steel is very good quality, holds a sharp edge better than most of their competitors. The handle on this one is very solid, solid fit, with the leather washer type ring caps the end of the handle, but none of the original dark maroon stain, has a natural finish. The steel is clean, particularly nice around the cutting edge area, no pitting, no edge dings, and no cracks, or rust. A very nice, clean, sharp firmer chisel overall! The No. 720 model chisels are becoming hard to find these days, and certainly not enough to go around. |
