This is a very nice 0-3 inch depth micrometer with 3 rods and one calibration wrench. It's clearly marked THE LUFKIN RULE CO. NO. 513 on the micrometer. This one also has the patent numbers on the base. They are 1,424,383 & 1,568,295, reflecting the newer patent date of 1928. It has a 3 inch wide base. It's in very good condition with very little wear, a few tiny specks of pitting and some small areas of darkened staining noted, but no rust. All the rods are in great shape, no rust, very clean. This one has a friction brake, which is the knurled ring just above the base. The friction brake has shoes that stop the turning of the thimble and rod, works fine. A very clean precision machinist tool by a well known quality tool maker! |
