Nippon Footed Antique Vase

Antique Nippon footed vase. c:pre 1921. Research indicates this may be known as 'black Nippon', which was pottery made to resemble Chinese bronze of 400 years ago. This is a very unique vases that has 3 feet; and a bronze and black like finish. It has an incised mark: 'Made in Nippon' as well as a date or artist's mark in a square; the symbols are too tiny to make out. Overall 'good antique' condition. There is a 2 inch scratch on interior side of vase; it does not appear to be a hairline, just a scratch; and some paint loss flakes on interior bottom. It is 4.25 tall x 8.5 wide from rim to rim; at bottom rim it is 9.5 wide. What is known for sure is that it was made pre-1921 as that is when the 'Nippon' mark was used; after 1921 it would be marked 'Japan'. Its an oldie but goodie!

Nippon : China and Dinnerware
Nippon Porcelain Dahlias Vase

Stunning vintage porcelain vase featuring Dahlias with raised gold scrolls. Enlarge the photos to see how beautiful this vase is! 99.9% sure it is old Nippon although it is not marked. The bottom rim is quite aged and worn indicating age. It was likely not made for export because it would be marked Nippon if it was. It is hand painted under glaze, drop dead gorgeous; and has a lot of gold on it. It is much more beautiful than the photos show it. The upper ruffled rim has some fleabites or paint flakes, (they look more like fleabites in the close up photos but in reality they just look like where the gold paint has flaked off, see photos 7-8). They are not even noticeable when the vase is upright and looking at from 4 inches away. This beauty is 7.25 tall x 6.5 wide. A fabulous old vase for your collection and well worth this price! 10/17

Nippon : China and Dinnerware
Large Antique Porcelain Vase Nippon?

Large stunning antique porcelain vase. Magnificent vase. Definitely looks like Nippon, but it is not marked so it was probably not made for export. It is much better looking than the photos are showing. It has gorgeous hand painted roses, beading and gold overlay. It is 13.75 tall. It has some minor flaws, but displays very well. Flaws: some straw marks, a 1/4 inch white spot, (where color did not adhere to the porcelain); a tiny white spot on rim, (gold has flecked off), a yellowish spot, (might be old price tag or paper label glue), and the top is somewhat irregularly shaped but does appear to be the original so it might be a hand thrown vase. It has a well-worn bottom rim indicating a lot of age. It is a fabulous vase despite the aging flaws.

This bowl is 7.75 long x 5.5 wide x 2.25 tall. It features yellow roses. Magnificent vintage hand painted teacup and saucer with raised enameling. It features deep pink dahlias and a lot of gold! Not marked but who cares! It's gorgeous! Saucer is almost 5.5 wide; cup is 3.5 wide x 2.25 tall. I think it looks like a Nippon piece, but since it is not marked I cannot verify that. The beading and enameling also looks similar to a Dresden cup in S. Harran's book III, on pg. 35. Nippon that was not made for export is often not marked.

Nippon China:
Lovely Hand Painted Nippon China Plate, 10 In., Tiny Rim Chips

Very pretty hand painted china antique Nippon china dinner plate, realistically painted in pale colors with gold trim, with scene of flowers, trees and water (and suggestion of two small sailboats). Measures 10 inches in diameter and sits about 1 inch in height. Fully marked on backside with antique green insignia, Hand Painted Nippon with M in a wreath (see image). This is an original Nippon piece made between 1890 and 1921, although we do not know exactly when during that period it was made. Please note that the colors are brighter and more vivid than how they appear in the images (with the yellow more of a lemon color, and the pinkish orange of the flowers more salmon) - the lighting from the camera dulled their look. For shipment purposes, this plate weighs over one pound unpacked.

While otherwise in excellent condition, we must point out that there are 2 tiny chips on the topside of this vintage plate in the gold trim at the plate's lower rim. One measures about 1/8 inch wide, with the other slightly larger at 3/16 inch in width. Both of these are shown in the images below. From their size and location, we believe these may have been caused by hanging with a metal plate hanger that wasn't padded on the ends. As such, these also may be largely covered up if the plate were to be hung again. They also might not be noticeable if slightly touched up with gold paint, but we are selling the piece as is, as found.

The only other thing we note is a little bit of unevenness in the paint in the center area which may have been caused in the manufacture if it was not fully painted well, or may be a touch of wear, but this doesn't detract from the attractiveness of the plate. There are some stray gold paint marks on the backside of the plate, and the expected bit of wear on the underside rim on which the piece sits. An eye-catching piece which would look lovely as part of a Nippon china or hand painted china collection or a decorative wall hanging.
$12.00

Nippon China:
Pretty Antique Nippon China Azalea Creamer, Blue Rising Sun Mark

This is a very pretty antique Nippon China creamer or small pitcher in the popular Azalea pattern. Fully marked on the underside base with the light blue Nippon Hand Painted "Rising Sun" mark. This is original Nippon China and thus was made during the period 1890-1921, although we don't know exactly when during that period it was made. The piece came out of an older person's home.

Measures 3 inches in height, about 5 inches in width (from outside of handle to tip of spout) and 3 1/4 inches in depth. White base porcelain (this creamer is translucent) with hand painted light pink azalea flowers with green and grey shadow leaves (2 open flowers on one side with two flower buds, and on the other side one open flower with two flower buds). There is a curved spout on one side and an open geometric handle on the other side. The top rim of the vintage creamer is trimmed in gold with gold line trimming on the handle, but it should be noted that a good bit of the gold line trim along the top rim has been worn away through age/use, with also some wear to the gold line trim on the handle. We have provided 8 images to try to show detail and the manufacturer mark. Please note that we had trouble getting the coloring to show correctly with our camera lighting so we've provided images both with and without the lighting. The pink flower coloring is the usual pale pink seen with Nippon pieces of this pattern (rather than the darker, more striking azalea pink seen on Noritake pieces of this pattern). The white "hot spots" in the images are reflections from the camera lighting on the glossy china surface.

Excellent, slightly used condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. There are some light scratches on the white outside surface, but you need to look at an angle in bright light to see these. We've mentioned above the gold wear. We want to point out that there is no chipping or flaking on the spout rim as is often the case. There are some pin/pit dots in the porcelain, some dark dots/tiny wear on the interior of the creamer, a touch of paint wear on the flowers (nothing bad), and a bit of wear to the underside base rim on which this piece sits. Really there's nothing to worry about here, it's a lovely piece in expected slightly used condition for its age.

A great usable and displayable vintage piece which would be a terrific addition to any collection of this nifty Azalea pattern china. Would also make a nice gift for a gardener who loves azaleas.

Nippon China:
Lovely Vintage Nippon China Two Handle Vase, Green M in Wreath Mark

Beautiful hand painted china antique Nippon china vase with double handles. This piece is fully marked on the underside base with the green Hand Painted Nippon mark with an "M" in a wreath. This is an original Nippon piece made between 1890 and 1921, although we do not know exactly when during that period it was made. This vintage vase is decorated with 4 scenic panels of trees, plants & water, raised gold "dot" lines and other gold trim, painted and raised gold flowers, and light blue highlighting as the "predominate" color. The two handles adorn the flat topside of vase.

Measures about 5 1/2 inches in height, rounded square body has width of 3 1/4 inches, greatest width handle to handle of 4 1/8 inches, top opening oval width of 1 1/2 inches. In the images, the white hot spots are lighting reflection from the camera. The camera lighting also changes the light blue color a bit, it is actually more of a sky blue color.

Wonderful overall condition for its age, no chips, cracks, or crazing, but it's not mint. We need to note that there is gold wear, particularly evident on the top and sides of the handles, and gold line wear elsewhere. There is also some outer surface wear/rubbed areas, but these are not immediately visible, and are only seen when looked at closely at an angle in bright light. And there are a few spots or stains on the inside of the piece, and some expected wear to the underside base on which the piece sits.

A very attractive piece which has survived well. Terrific as part of a Nippon china, Japanese china, Japan china or hand painted china collection, or for display use as an accent piece.
$39.99

Nippon China:
Antique Nippon China 3 Piece Condiment with Lid & Spoon, Rising Sun Mk

Neat little condiment server complete with lid and hard to find spoon (in one piece and great shape). Antique Nippon China fully marked with the Hand Painted Nippon blue "Rising Sun" mark. This is an original Nippon piece made between 1890 and 1921, although we do not know exactly when during that period it was made. This type of piece is often referred to as a condiment or mustard server, but could be used for any type of food addition handled via a small spoon.

White base porcelain (this piece is translucent) with cream colored paint near the top or outer edge (on the base piece and lid), highlighted with gold line trimming which has a raised line motif in spots including gold line trim on the side handle and the top of the lid finial/handle and gold dots on the china spoon. There are hand painted pink flowers (we don't know the type) with green leaves, with a large floral decoration on one side of the base piece and just a small one on the backside. We've provided 8 images to try and show details and the mark. Please note that we had trouble getting the coloring to show correctly with the camera lighting, so we've provided images both with and without the lighting. The white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting on the glossy surface.

When "put together" with lid and spoon, this vintage condiment server sits about 3 inches in height, about 3 3/4 inches in greatest width (from outside of handle to opposite side of base) and about 3 inches in depth or diameter to this round piece. The china spoon measures about 3 1/4 inches in length.

Excellent overall condition. There are no major chips, cracks or crazing. We do see some minor flakes on the side of the inside part of the lid which fits within the base (not on the outer rim/edges) and some tiny, tiny dots or flakes as well as general expected wear on the underside of the base piece where it sits. There is some paint wear on the large flower motif on the base that you will see when you look close-up, but its not bad, the usual age/use wear and this piece has survived very well. There is some gold wear on the lines on the handle of the lid and use/age darkening on the unglazed inner rim of the base piece on which the lid sits. There is a raised extra touch of porcelain as the piece was made (it is glazed over) on the lid, some pin/pit dots in the porcelain, and other small expected use/age wear, but we are looking very closely to be fair. This piece is really in lovely shape and very usable or great for display.

Would make a nice addition for any set of Nippon China for use when entertaining, or a great small piece on display.

Porcelain and Pottery-Nippon:
Imperial Nippon Art Deco Floral Vase

Vase Stunning old vase marked Imperial Nippon Hand painted with the butterfly in flight mark.
Wonderful colors in the flowers and the blue running down the front sets them right off! Raised
gold rims the blue both front and back as well as tiny dots about the base and neck. The
shoulders of the handles have a flower on each. Very minor wear to the gold here. The deep
green, almost black of the top has gold flowers and string pattern in it. Near mint condition.
Stands just shy of 8 1/4" tall by 5 7/8" wide. I would say about 1915-1920’s on this one as it has
that art deco style to it also.
