This is a nice vintage split head w/No-mar industrial plastic replaceable faces at each end of this mallet made in U.S.A..  It has one large ring nut that presses the two steel jaws together to hold the mallet face inserts in place.  The end steel is marked CHICAGO RAWHIDE C/R 5 and also marked C/R on the original Ash handle.  As you can see in the photos, this mallets in good working order with minimal wear overall, some soft face edges are chipped or dinged but the inserts are not cracked and are very tightly held by the two steel jaws.  A useful and well made tool.  This mallet is 16" long x 3.5 inch diameter steel jaws.  It weighs a total of 7.25 pounds.
