PEPSIN or RENNET WINE labels to be offered here individually priced for the collector of Civil War vintage pharmaceuticals, early to mid 19th century medical cures, or simply likes Civil War era personal things. Heintzelman’s labels (see Civil War era Philadelphia directories) measure approximately 1 1/8" X 3 3/8" and mix a bit of German with the primarily English text that expounds on the curative properties of the content. Dosages for dyspepsia, diseases of the stomach and to insure ongoing good health are given. Each remains in fine un-used condition for display as is, or mounted on a period bottle. Civil War medical collectors and enthusiasts will be pleased to note that the Philadelphian, Heintzelman served as a Hospital Steward with the 72nd Penn. Volunteer Infantry from 8/10/1861 to 12/4/1862 then as Assistant Surgeon of the 42nd Mass. Volunteers until 8/20/1863 (see: Rush B.
