A beautiful group of 4 original color lithographs incl 1) Shasta Butte & Shasta Valley (Siskiyou County, Ca), 2) Lassens Butte (Sacramento Valley, Ca), Medium Foxing, 3) Mount Jefferson & Black Butte, 4) Canon of Psuc-See-Que Creek. Each image is approx 8.5 x 11" with fine colors. All 4 images were made by Baron von Egloffstein, survey artist for Western Explorer James Beckwith's US Army 41st Parallel Railroad Survey of California & Oregon 1854. Each has minor foxing, edge wear, overall VG except as noted.

The US Army conducted USPRR exploration surveys of the West for the proposed Transcontinental Railroad to the Pacific from 1855-1859. The survey reportswere published by the War Department at Washington in 1860, and included stunning maps and lithographs drawn by government artists with the expeditions.
