Postally used Confederate envelope with partial C.D.S., Tudor Hall, Va., Sep. 3, 1861, stamped Paid 5. Docket at left, Tudor Hall. Addressed to Mr. Alex M. Glasgow, Lexington, Virginia. Light age toning and wear.

Footnote: Lexington, Va. was the home of the Virginia Military Institute. The only home ever owned by then Major Thomas J. Jackson, U.S.A., and professor at V.M.I., was located in Lexington. After the Civil War, General Robert E. Lee, served as the President of Washington College, Lexington, Va. Both Confederate heroes are buried in Lexington.
