Copperton Lane Antiques & Collectibles

Circa: 1948
Country of Origin: US
Manufacturer: Criterion Bell & Specialty Co
This is a terrific vintage Christmas tree ringing bells set by Criterion Bell & Specialty Company from the late 1940s. The main components are a dozen colored tin bells and a tin litho house with Santa Claus on the roof. When the bells are arranged on your tree and the house is set up under it, you plug in the house and Santa repeatedly pulls on the ribbon to ring all the bells. There's a short Youtube video you can look up to see and hear them.

The set comes in its original box. You'll need to add your own ribbon (1/4 inch wide gift wrap curling ribbon works fine) and a spring - everything else is present. You can find or order a 1-1/2 to 2 inch metal spring (tension or extension, depending on the manufacturer) at the big box home improvement stores. The pulley for the ribbon is present, as is a photocopy of the original instruction sheet. The motor inside the house works, but keep in mind Santa's hand will only move when tension is applied - you have to set up the ribbon and bells first. The house has some scuffing, nothing serious. The box has some normal wear from age and storage but is intact with no tears or splits.
