This is a fine example of a rarely seen, quality made straight back cross cut hand saw for the early 1950's era! It has a very nice etch on the 26" long blade, marked "ESTABLISHED 1840 HENRY DISSTON & SONS D-15 PHILADELPHIA U.S.A. LIGHTWEIGHT" in and around the weight scale logo. It is also marked in script "THE BEAUTY, FINISH AND UTILITY THIS SAW CANNOT BE EXCELLED HENRY DISSTON" next to the logo, than next to this to the right is the Victory etch. It reads "VICTORY PROCLAIN LIBERTY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD" under the bell the eagle is above. The blade has 8 teeth points per inch, is sharp, no damage, ready to use. The blade is about 98% straight, no kinks, but a very minor wave noted, fully useable. The blade has some darkening but no rust, no missing teeth.  We note that it has been sharpened to the point that the teeth are into the 8 stamp indication the number of teeth per inch.  The handle is a darker fruitwood, with wheat type carving on one side, and nickel plated fittings, in very good condition, a few ting dings or scratches noted on the fittings. The medallion is marked with the "DISSTON U.S.A." around the logo. The handle is about 85% like new with minor scratches, and small chipped of spot at the lower end ear, no other chips or cracks. The hardware should be nickel plated brass, and as you can see most of the nickel plating is worn off the brass medallion and screws, otherwise they are all in good shape.   A rare example of a quality made finish hand saw! Celebrating the U.S.A. Victory in WWII in the late 1940's!
