This wonderful piece was early American press glass. I came in different colors with this one being clear glass, but does have a hint of purple since it is probably turning color because of the age. I would say it is a candy dish, but some say it is a butter dish. Whichever, the item is a wonderful piece. There is not chips or cracks. It is in excellent condition.
