Anticus Antiques

Circa: Circa 1880s
Condition: Some faults, see description
Country of Origin: GB
Manufacturer: Sturges, Bladdon & Middleton of Birmingham.
Lovely 19th century sugar castor, made in Britannia metal, which would have once been silver plated. Now with the plating worn off, the castor looks like pewter. It has a pretty design of flowers swagged around the body. Maker is S.B. & M (Sturges, Bladdon & Middleton, Birmingham, England). Ornamental item only as the lid just won’t come off. Would date around 1880s. Has a few little dents, but a quaint piece of shabby chic. Measures 15 cm high and 8.1 cm diameter (6 inches by 3.1/4 inches).
