An usual and very pretty 7 piece glass salad bowl set in fired-on bright magenta pink and yellow, circa 1940s to mid 1950s. They are perfect with no signs of use, and come in their original Gay Fad Studios box. The master bowl is about 8-1/2 inches diameter by 2-3/4" deep (9-3/4" across the handles). The six smaller bowls measure 4-3/4 by 1-3/4 inches.
The fired-on shaded coloring is on the outside and bottoms, giving a soft reverse painted appearance to the interiors. The pressed glass pattern starts with a sunflower, then radiates outward into diamonds and elongated honeycombs until it reaches the scalloped rims and petal tabbed handles. Gay Fad was a decorating studio only, so I know they didn't make the glass, but I was unable to identify the glass pattern or manufacturer. The box is stamped on the side "32-SS3 Salad Set" (rest is covered by tape and unreadable). The carton has the original cardboard dividers and the bowls have no wear or damage.
