Edward McKeever Hudson, was an 1849 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy. Commissioned brevet 2nd lieutenant, 3rd U.S. Artillery, on July 1, 1849; 2nd lieutenant, 4th U.S. Artillery, on September 12, 1850; 1st lieutenant, on April 30, 1855; captain, 14th U.S. Infantry, May 14, 1861; lieutenant colonel, U.S. Volunteers Aide-de-Camp, on September 28, 1861; brevetted for gallantry in the battle of the Wilderness. On November 4, 1865, he was commissioned into the field and staff of the 15th U.S. Infantry. He served in the Regular U.S. Army until December 15, 1870.
