More Than McCoy

Circa: 1891
Manufacturer: George Proctor & Co.
Vintage Gladstone China teacup. c: 1891-1940. Black backstamp: Gladstone China, crown symbol, G. P. & Co., L, Made in England. The GP & Co. is George Proctor & Co., the L stands for Longton. Numbered #5785 in red. This company was in business from 1891-1964, but the backstamp on this teacup is from the date noted first. The pattern is called Yellow Jonquils and the flowers have enameled centers. It is a very striking teacup with just a bit of discloration on the interior bottom of teacup and one little yellow spot on interior side of cup as shown in photo 8; enlarge the photo for better view. The saucer is fine. This teacup displays great despite the age flaws. Judging by the aged surface on the bottom rim and the enameling, I'd estimate it dates to around the 1920's. The saucer is 5.5 wide; cup is 3.5 wide x 3 tall. If you love vintage teacups, this one's for you! 3/15scs
