Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: 1920's-40's
Condition: Good++
Manufacturer: Goodell-Pratt Co. Greenfield Mass.
This is a nice, 6" outside spring caliper that is marked "Goodell-Pratt Co. Greenfield Mass." on the steel beam also has a past owner put his intials on one side.  This caliper feature the "SPEED NUT" which is the adjustment nut is split so that if you close the caliper by hand to the smaller span, the nut will loosen on the threaded shaft so you can get the size you want is about a second, then use the nut like normal for fine adjustment, as the nut will re-engage the threads as soon as you release the closing presure. It measures 7" long overall and has a very nice snug pivot joint, and strong spring. The threaded fine adjustment works great, good threads. It features nice flatten legs, and rounded end tips. A nice looking tool from the late early 1900's era, perhaps a bit earlier.  No rust, no damage, minor wear overall, in working order.
