Really Good Things

Published by Scribner, Armstrong and Co. in 1867, this volume was part of Guyot's Geographical Series and is the "intermediate" book called "The Earth and it's Inhabitants". The volume features over 20 hand tinted maps of Europe, South America, Africa et al. Many in color lithography. There are also etchings featuring scenic wonders and wild life. There are two prefaces, one by Mr. Guyot himself and another by Mary Howe Smith, an educator from Princeton. Aside from the geography lessons, the back of the book contains a pronouncing vocabulary, a population tables, along with other statistics. As one would expect of any school book, especially one almost 150 years old, there is wear, especially to the corners, and a few minor tears...but all 118 pages are intact. The front and rear covers have the most wear and have become faded over time. The maps, are of course, the prime feature of this piece.
