Manufacturer: Spanish Tiles
Nifty vintage pottery or ceramic tile which could be used as a trivet, plaque or hot plate. This is marked on the backside with Made in Spain and P-5 and the number 3. Square, measuring just under 6 inches each side (about 5 7/8 inches), with a depth of 1/4 inch. We don't know the age of this tile (we would guess it dates from the later half of the last century). It has a hand-painted, antique-looking design in muted multi-colors with a blue tone predominating. The graphic is of a man in a peasant-type outfit with a broad-rimmed hat, carrying a two-pronged pitchfork (pitch fork) and walking near some plants.

The backside of the tile shows the base pottery or ceramic with dashed lines of raised ridges, perhaps to make this better cement to a wall, we don't know. These dashed lines are grouped in threes with four sets. There is a nice weight to this piece, weighing over 13 ounces unpacked.

We've provided 8 images to show from several angles. It was hard to show the raised markings on the backside, we did the best we could in the last image but you still can't see this clearly in the image. However, we guarantee that you will see the Made in Spain in person (and you sill see a touch of white glue within the word Spain in person and a bit elsewhere on the backside). Please note that the camera lighting creates white "hot spots" on the topside smooth, glazed surface (the backside is not glazed). Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very nice, very usable & displayable condition, but not mint with some expected age/storage/use wear. As you can see in some of the close-up images, there are small, low topside chips in each of the two bottom corner points. There are also additional tiny circular chips along the topside edge between these two corners. If you hold this tile at an angle in bright light you can see some topside scratches, but really not bad at all. There is some other general expected wear including a few tiny chips/flakes along the backside, bottom side ceramic edge (the same edge which has the tiny flakes/chips on the topside). This chipping suggests to us that the prior owner perhaps stored or displayed this piece standing along this edge. However, none of this is really bad nor unexpected for an older piece which comes out of a home.

We will be listing several other vintage and/or antique tiles. If you are interested in more than one tile, please contact us prior to placing the order. The system has been set up to provide shipping costs for just one tile and will not automatically give you the cost savings you would get by shipping more than one tile in the same package. We would be pleased to provide that for you.
