Manufacturer: Johnson Brothers
Two pretty blue & white round bread & butter plates (or small dessert plates) made by Johnson Brothers, England (Johnson Bros, Johnson Bros.) in their Coaching Scenes Hunting Country pattern. You can buy just one or both of them. They are priced individually. If you do wish to purchase both of them, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one plate and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing both plates shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you).

These wonderful plates both came out of the same older person's home, they are not new, we believe them to be vintage, but we do not know the exact age. They are round measuring 6 1/4 inches in diameter and sitting about 5/8 inch in height. They have a fluted or scalloped edge with a lowered center section bordered with a molded curved or swirled line pattern to the china reaching outward to the plate edge. These plates are china or pottery (they are not translucent), and unpacked weigh about 6 1/2 ounces each. They are blue & white in coloring, with the blue coloring a darkish blue, not the flo-blue type blue but more navy in color. One plate may be slightly darker than the other, but they are very similar in color. The plates have a central graphic of a coach drawn by 4 horses with 4 men riding on the coach through the countryside. The outer border graphic is a scrolled ribbon, flower & leaves pattern.

These plates are fully marked on the backsides with a multi-horse drawn carriage graphic with riders, above which are the words "Coaching Scenes". Below the graphic it states "Made in England by Johnson Bros, Ironstone, Hunting Country". We've provided 8 images, showing the topside of each plate along with views of other details and the marking. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting on the high gloss surfaces.

Both plates are in very nice overall condition. We see no major chips, cracks or crazing. One plate does have a tiny, oval flake or very low chip on the backside along the outer underside rim (measuring 1/16 inch in diameter). The plates were used and have some small use/wear surface scratches on the topsides but these are only visible when looking closely at an angle in bright light....but you need to know they are there. Other expected imperfections including some tiny pin/pit dots, stray blue dots/marks from the transfer process, backside small unglazed round spots from the manufacturing process (where the plate separated from glazing equipment), etc. None of this detracts from their great look or usability either on display or as part of a set of this impressive china pattern.
