Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: 1920's-30's
Condition: Good+
Manufacturer: E.C. SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER
This is a nice, clean, antique ratchet brace in very good working order! It is marked with the "KEEN KUTTER" logo and name, and also marked "KR10" on one steel arm. It has a 10 swing and feature ball bearing end handle drill spindle, smooth operating ratchet system with 3 position selector, and a two jaw chuck, very much like the Peck, Stow, and Wilcox Co. design with the narrow jaws that have V slots in them on a taper to hold tapered end auger bits. This chuck design holds very will, and the jaws on this one are in great shape, the bits placed in it turn true on center. All the steel is in good to very good shape, a few minor scatched note, but no damage or wear effecting use. This one has the rosewood handle, both have some wear, small to tiny dings here and thereĀ on the end stock handle wood, very solid on both handles, both have a nice smooth clean finish, and turn freely as per design. One of the nicer quality braces one can purchase from this 1920's-30's era.
