  • Marx Little Orphan Annie Working Electric Toy Stove

Copperton Lane Antiques & Collectibles

Circa: 1935
Country of Origin: US
Manufacturer: Louis Marx Toys
According to Kovels, the Louis Marx toy company made several different variations of Little Orphan Annie metal toy stoves from the mid 1930s into the 1940s. This is one of the larger electric versions with three burners, measuring 9-1/2 by 6 inches, 8-1/2 inches high to the top of the backsplash panel. They were painted in different colors - this stove is red and pale yellow. Included are some non-original cookware toys - a 2-part aluminum double boiler with red handles and a pair of tin toy jelly molds to hang from the hooks on the back panel.

The 5-1/2 foot cloth covered cord and Bakelite plug are in very good condition with no splits, tears, or fraying. The stove heats up properly when plugged in (it gets pretty hot so you shouldn't leave it on long). The two hinged doors below the burners open and close properly. There are some scuffs and paint wear consistent with age, nothing excessive considering the 90-plus year age.
