Milliners Doll Paper Mache Wood Leather circa 1860s. Height 8 1/4 inch. She is a wonderful doll in as found condition. Her head and chest plate is made of paper mache. She has a leather body and wooden arms and only one leg. Her papier mache head has molded and painted hair and facial features. There is wear to the finish and a age crack middle of her head that goes down both sides and stops just below her hairline. I believe this is where the paper mache was molded together and what has naturally occurred since 1860s. Her head measures 1 1/2 inch across side to side. The leather body is in good sturdy condition. The wood arms are intact with one hand all there and the opposite hand is missing a thumb. One whole leg and foot is missing, the other is complete with a flat bottom painted blue shoe. She is dressed in bloomers, slip and dress that have fauxing. No tears found and believe the clothing is from original period. She is just as found.
