  • Napoleon Pressed Steel Padlock W/key

Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: 1920's-50's
Condition: Good+
Manufacturer: NAPOLEON
This is a nice clean pressed steel padlock w/key. It is marked "NAPOLEON" on the front of the body. It is also marked "CREST N.Y." on the key. The key opens the lock with a turn to the clockwise, (this lock has a llittle spring open action, but usually needs to be assisted to open it.) also has automatic locking with key in or out, just push the shackle to the closed position. The lock and key are both in good+ condition with no rust, some  minor pitting noted, not rusty. The lock measures 2.0" high x 1.25" wide and .30" thick.  The shackle diamer is .20" and is made of steel.  A nice early padlock from about 100 years ago, in the hard to find small size!  Pressed steel locks are very sturdy, some were made of brass, this one is made of steel.  It is the two piece main body that was shaped in a stamping press, thereby called pressed steel.   A nice lock overall!
