Circa: 1850
Several years ago I bought 4 famous harbor or waterway prints, intending to hang them in my living room. Somehow they got misplaced and they never were hung. I just found all 4 in a nice tight plastic box where they’ve been for over 20 years. This is definitely not my area of prime interest or expertise, but I think that all 4 prints are beautiful, and obviously not color-damaged or faded from exposure.
As far as I can determine, all are antique line engravings which were hand tinted, ca 1850-1855. Although not super large, they present quite a bit of detail, and are in very good condition; all have antique lined, cream colored matting and custom quality framing wood, each a little different. There are 2 frames of the same size, and the other 2, slightly smaller are similar in size. All have paper backing and a wire for hanging.

The third print is New Orleans, ca 1850.
Overall frame is 12 ½ x 10 ½ inches, just a bit larger than the Harpers Ferry print, with ornate gold with fine red striping on the frame, which also has a gold rope on a dark gray background near the center area; double-lined cream mat; plain glass is intact.

The image is all harbor, with one large ship dominating the front, but groups of people on the near shore, and spires and an apparent capitol like building in the center-back; nice cloud puffs up above the city area. The dominant colors are grayish-blues with a splashes of color on the ship and land folk. This main colored section measures 6 x 3 7/8 inches.

There is an area of white around the main picture, where New Orleans is printed underneath; no other printing

The picture is pristine; no folds, foxing, mildew, etc.
