Here's a recipe from my own childhood. This is something my mom made quite often because it was relatively cheap to feed all 7 of us kids! I hated it!

Noodles and Crumbs

1 lb package wide noodles, cooked according to package
1 sleeve saltine crackers
2 tablespoons margarine divided

While noodles boil, crush the saltines, then saute them in a pan with the margarine. Drain noodles and put on a plate, and sprinkle with the cracker crumbs. I always slathered it with ketchup to get it down ;-) I think this may have come from my grandmother and might have been a "depression" era recipe that tried to imitate Spatezle. I do remember the crumbs sort of sticking to the noddles, so perhaps she added a little butter (margarine) to the hot noodles.

What weird thing did you eat as a kid? Do you make it now and think of it as comfort food?
