Manufacturer: Vintage Christmas Ornaments
Nifty vintage mercury glass Christmas ornament which came out of a home. This is the engine or first car of an old-time steam train. There is no indication of manufacturer or country of origin on the bright gold metal cap, which also has hanging near it a gold metal piece in the shape of an old-time 1930s radio, so perhaps this is a specialized tag for a specific manufacturer.

Measures about 3 inches high to the top of the hanging metal loop, 2 1/2 inches wide and 1 1/4 inches in depth. This is an all-over painted glass ornament. It is a bright shiny red train engine, with black & silver for the wheels, gold & silver for the front "cow nudger" triangular part, black for the top steam pipe and green for the roof on the train car. There is gold glitter decoration on the train as well as white paint with white mica glitter for the steam coming out of the pipe and across the top of the train.

We've provided 3 images to show from varied angles. Please use the zoom feature to examine the images closely.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing. On the underside there is a touch of paint wear showing dots of the base silver glass as well as other very minor wear. There are other pin dots of silver which can be seen among the red paint, but no significant paint wear. The gold metal cap appears to fit tightly and can't be lifted up. There may be other minor evidence of use/age/storage wear as expected of an item that was used/hung on a tree, but nothing bad that jumps out at us. This train engine ornament is in great shape and ready to hang on your tree.

We are listing many other Christmas ornaments.
