Manufacturer: Norwegian Sterling Enamel Jewelry
Lovely vintage clip earrings in sterling silver with a gold or brass wash and rich blue enameling. These are in the shape of a small leaf, one side having a smooth edge and the other a jagged edge, as designed. The décor includes showing veins in the leaf, with a central vertical line vein and then branched veins horizontally from this.

Fully marked on the backside of each earring with "925S", then what we think is a capital "H" in a circle, followed by "Sterling, Norway". While many of the sterling Norway earrings were made by David Andersen, these do not bear the D-A mark, so we don't know that these were made by him or under him. The "H" probably indicates the manufacturer or artist who designed these, but we don't know who that stands for.

Measure about 7/8 inches long x about 1/2 inch wide. These vintage earrings are not flat, they have a slight curve to them, with a dip in the center where the vertical vein is and then curving slightly upward from the vein horizontally before again curving slightly downward at the outer edges. The smooth enameled surface and the curvature to the earrings make them highly reflective of the light. We think the enameled coloring is all one nice rich medium blue, but the curve and light reflection does make it seem like the color varies a bit. The earring clips open and close fine and should hold tightly to the ear.

We've provided 8 images of this jewelry to try and show from varied angles, one with a quarter for size comparison, and views of the end, backside with the earring clips up and down, and a close-up of the marking on one of the earrings. Please note that the camera light creates white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth surface, so some images were shot without the camera light (this makes the earrings appear darker but can sometimes make details more visible). The camera light also lightens the blue coloring a bit, so it is a richer, slightly darker medium blue in person. Most of our images are shot with the point of the leaf at the bottom since the position of the clip and the weight distribution naturally made this an easier resting way for the photos. However, given how the clip is attached, we actually think these would be worn more likely with the clip at the bottom of one's ear, which would have them worn with the point of the leaf at the top (unless one clipped these from the side of the ear). Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Very attractive, very usable vintage condition, but not mint. On one earring the enameling looks in great shape. On the other earring, when you look closely you can see a vertical line crack in the enamel near the fat curve of the leaf on the smooth (not jagged) side. There is also a tiny horizontal line crack here and a small triangular part of the top surface missing but this does not effect the blue coloring which looks complete, so it must be a bit of the top clear glazing which is missing here, but none of this would be noticeable when worn. On the backside of each earring (and along the outer edges) there is dark discoloration/tarnishing. Given the sterling silver, this might be removable with some silver polish, but we have not tried and are selling these as is/as found. There is similar tarnishing on the rectangular metal end of the clips.

A neat find out of an older home which would make a nice addition to any collection of these Norwegian or Scandinavian enameled sterling silver earrings or jewelry.
