  • Ohio Institute: Reports Of Blind 1837-60 Book

Antique Junction

A rather unusual book and possibly a rare Book giving Reports of the Blind for the Ohio Institute in Columbus, Ohio from the years 1837 to 1860. I’ve never seen a Book like this before. It’s very informative giving lots of detail to the Blind from the Ohio Institute. There’s a table that breaks down the number of Blind in each County of Ohio and goes even further by explaining male/female, age, and circumstances. Also lists the name of the pupils in the Ohio Institue for the Blind from the various years, where they are from, when admitted, who they are support by and the Cause of their Blindness. Gives a Steward’s & Treasurers Report of Expenditures as well as Reports from the Superintendent and Physician. I even saw a Table which shows the Studies of the Pupils for each Day in the Week.. Lists the Trustees and Officers of the Institution also. There’s a couple pages in braile in the Book as well. As mentioned just a very informative Book especially for the Book’s age and the subject matter that it pertains to. Overall condition is not bad. Some soiled pages but just skimming through it I did not see any torn or ripped pages. A wonderful book if you enjoy literature pertaining to Blindness or anything related to the subject matter. Buyer to pay shipping.
