Gorgeous French Opalescent bedside water bottle with matching underplate. The bottle is blown with a semi-polished pontil. The opalescent ribbing comes to a scallop about 3/4 the way up the bottle. The top then moves into a semi-swirl pattern. The underplate is also blown, ground and polished . The rim has been ground into a scallop to give a prettier look to the finished edge. The opalescent stripes on the plate radiate out from the center in a sunburst effect. Although Fenton made opalescent water bottles, this is not one of their patterns. This is Victorian glass, unfortunately not marked. There are a couple of rough spots on the rim of the plate, but nothing else. We don't believe it had a tumbler as there are no wear marks on the bottle where a tumbler would have rested. It displays beautifully and it's color moves from blue to lavender depending on the light.
