Some history from the net:
Pop Warner is best known for all the little-league football that bears his name.

His contribution to the game of football fills volumes. In addition to coaching Jim Thorpe, developing offensive and defensive line formations and tactics, Pop Warner developed shoulder pads to protect his young athletes.

During a football game in 1912, the Carlisle School for Indians (Pennsylvania) hammered Army 27-6. The right halfback for the Army team was Dwight D. Eisenhower, future general of the army in WWII and future president of the US.
