Antique Tiles

Circa: 1920
Manufacturer: Moravian Pottery & Tile Works
This Pegasus tile is from the Constellation series of tiles made by the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works in Doylestown, PA. It dates around 1920, and the larger tiles in this series are very hard to find. This measures 6 5/8" in diameter and is just over 1/2" thick. The tile design is pierced. The glaze is a speckled / mottled blue, with the buff color clay coming though to enhance it. There is a firing crack through the left leg of the winged horse - as is common with many of the older and larger Mercer tiles. Generally this is in very nice condition. This would be an amazing gift for that astronomer in your life!
