Modeled from Female Figurine - Mexico, probably Teotihuacan - mid-2nd-4th Century

This female figurine wears a long skirt and a quechquemitl, or small cape with covers
the body from the shoulders to slightly below the waist (similar garments are
still worn by Mexican peasants). The headdress consists of a wide horizontal
band, with traces of red, yellow and white pigment still visible.
It is not known whether the figure represents a deity or an individual of high status.

This copy was made in the Museum's Reproduction Studio . The piece is patinated
by hand before firing .
