Cobalt & gilt circle the saucer well. Thistle emblem in gilt on cup exterior & in center of saucer well. White ground. Molded in swirled scallops. Gilt edges; gilt footline on cup; gilt leaves on cup handle. Over 200 years old! A matching covered sugar bowl w/stand is on display in the Porcelain Galleries of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, England. A trio very similar to this item is shown on p. 47 of Collectible Cups & Saucers Book II by Jim & Susan Harran. CONDITION: Excellent / Near Mint (pings). An early classic.
