Circa: early 1900's-1930's
Condition: Good+
Manufacturer: Peck, Stow, & Wilcox Co. U.S.A.
This is a nice clean older 10" swing, ratchet auger bit brace marked "SAMSON P.S. & W. 8210" on the swing arms and "SAMSON PECK, STOW AND WILCOX CO." on the chuck sleeve. This brace is in very good working condition with the rosewood handles in very nice shape, a few dings and scratches, but look nice. There is some wear on the finish, used to have nickel plating on most of the surfaces, but only about 20% remains, yet the polished finish still looks nice for the most part. The is some wear on the chuck sleeve knurled area, but otherwise only a few darkened areas or stains noted. The chuck jaws and jaw spring have been tested, and are in good working order. The chuck is designed to hold wood auger bits with the tapered square ends.
