Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: Mid-1900's
Condition: Good+
Manufacturer: Sargent
This is a good used low angle block plane that I don't see very many of these days! It is a Sargent No. 307, which is like the Stanley No. 15. It is complete with all original iron and fittings, except for the replacement cutter which fits it correctly, but is marked "MILLERS FALLS". This plane is 7" long with a 1.62" cutter. It's a handy little tool that features an all iron body and adjustable throat. It has a good working cutter depth adjustment feature. Overall it's very solid, and is clean. We note very little wear, a few minor scratches, and metal staining, no cracks, very nice, clean. It has about 50% of the original Japanning intact. It has a good sharp cutter intact with plenty of usable length left for future sharpening. We note a little bit of pitting at the top end of the cutter, but none in the cutting edge area. A great low angle block plane, for those smaller jobs!
