The scene shows a woman in native country dress spinning wool or cotton into thread or yarn. Wonderful mottled muted green and gold glazes in the background. Signed with a conjoined - I B - in the lower left corner. This well executed tile was done in the cuerda seca method (aka wax resist). The tile measures 8 inches x 3 3/4 inches; - with the frame it measures 8 5/8 inches x 4 1/2 inches. I have 2 other tiles done by the same artist in stock. Done on a red clay blank - there are no backmarks - age and country of origin are unknown. Generally excellent condition. (#T-1475-E)
