Civil War Ohio Senator John Sherman, brother of General WT Sherman was one of the powers in Washington. An original trio of Civil War era calling cards 1) Printed Card w handsome lettering "Mrs. John Sherman" preceded by pencil inscr "Mr & Mrs", & also "Miss Mack Thursday", 2) Printed Card "Miss M.H. Sherman", w pencil note "P.P.C.", and 3)Printed Card "Mrs Joshua Davis", pencil inscr added "At Mrs. Shermans". Each card is approx 3.5 x 2" on heavy stock. The cards are VG w glue stains on reverse. From the collection of Ms Mary S Norton, whose Guardians General & Mrs Samuel Heintzelman introduced her into Washington Society during the War. A nice item of Civil War history.
