Vivien Leigh Paper Dolls in Full Color booklet by Tom Tierney is based on the costumes that Vivien Leigh wore in several of her moveis. The movies include Gone with the Wind from 1939, Sidewalks of London from 1938, Fire Over England from 1937, Waterloo Bridge from 1940, Caesar and Cleopatra from 1945-1946, A Streetcar Named Desire from 1951, The Deep Blue Sea from 1955, A Yank at Oxford from 1938, That Hamilton Woman from 1941, Anna Karenina from 1948, the Roman Spring of Mrs.Stone from 1961, and Ship of Fools from1 1965. More are on the way.  This is a striking Bitossi Italy vase using the very popular orange, yellow and chartreuse colors in the 1950s-1960s from Bitossi. The vase stands 5 3/4 inches tall. This vase is part of the Rosenthal-Netter line of imported Italian pottery and ceramics as it is carries an original paper label.

The body of the vase is done in a vibrant chartruse glaze onto which two highly stylized blossoms have been painted, one orange, one white. It seems that the Rosenthal-Netter line was a brighter toned line than the Raymor Line. One sees a lot of yellows and oranges on the Rosenthal-Netter line.

The original paper Rosenthal-Netter black and white paper label carries the stock number 245/2.

The piece is in excellent condition. Add it to your Rosenthal-Netter or Bitossi collection.  This Royal Haeger gem is the creation of master ceramicist Helmut Bruchmann who worked for Haeger from 1954-1969. His glazes for the Etruscan line are reminiscent of the other 'volcanic' glazes found on Mid-Century lines. The body is standard Haeger shape, RG-68 a bottleneck vase which stands 7 1/4 inches tall.

The glaze is a dark cherry red with some shadings of chocolate brown with lighter gray tones. Glazed with a white glaze on the inside. Excellent condition.

It is marked simply with the words Royal Haeger in raised letters and USA and the numbers RG-68. The Red Crackle glaze is known to collectors as Etruscan which was to imitate the patina of unearthed Etruscan style pottery from Italy.

The Etruscan glaze was from 1966-1967 . The more common Blue and Orange Etruscan glazes can be seen in the Ed Blas book called The Royal Haeger Glazes on pages 152-153. The Red Etruscan in my opinion is the hardest to find.

Add it to your Haeger or Mid-Century collection today.  The Tonner Nu Mood Finishing Touch black satin ballet shoes and a rhinestone decorated silver tiara, style No. T12NMAC05, fit the 16 inch Tyler Wentworth bodied and all Nu Mood ballet feet. The other three went through the dishwasher and are now sparkling and ready for your home.

This is the 3 5/8 inch tall sherbet which holds 5 ounces. It is footed and slightly flared at the top. I am not an expert in this pattern and hope to pass these along to a collector or dealer as I bought them extremely reasonably.

The price is for the set of five. Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of America's past. Sturdy, dependable, dishwasher-friendly, it is ready for your home today.  This vase stands 7 inches tall and is 3 inches wide at the mouth. It is done in the Brutalist manner of the late 1950s-early 1970s. The surface of the terra cotta vase is covered with a chocolate base glaze over which a spattered layer of glazed was added to add texture over which the colors have been applied, with thick black lines outlining the colored sections. A bland band is at the bottom and the top Above the bottom black band there is a band of black diagonal lines. A very abstract bird with orange eye and tail circles the vase. The body of the bird is done in yellow with black lines separating the yellow sections. The same horizontal aquamarine color band outlined in black can be seen in three different places on the vase.

The vase is in excellent condition. The piece is signed simply in capital leters MADE IN ITALY with a sans serif font as opposed to the Toscany pieces with a serif font for the word Italy.

This funky and retro Mid-century pottery was probably made in Italy by the Toscany Company, of Empoli Italy. Empoli is a town in Tuscany about 20 miles south of Florence. Empoli is also not far from Montelupo, a famous center of Italian pottery made for export to the United States. The silver label seen on identical pieces seems to be restricted to the 1945-1970 time period.

Another possibility is that it is from the studio of Bruno Bagnoli, who worked for Bitossi at Montelupo. Perhaps lesser known here in the United States than Aldo Londi, he nonetheless is well represented in Italy. His work can be seen on pages 160-161 in the book titled Novecento Ceramiche Italiane, Volume 2, by Emanuele Gaudenzi.

Add it to your Midcentury Pottery collection today. This would look stunning on a McCobb, Parzinger or Eames piece.

The blue cornflower which is found on 90 plus pieces of Corning's Pyroceram ware debuted in 1957 and was retired in 1987.

This set of 3 P-41 Petite Pans was made between 1963 and 1970. They were sold both with a cover and without a cover. They each hold 1 1/2 cups. They are shown on page 24 of Coroneos' 2006 guide titled The Complete Guide to Corning Ware & Visions Cookware.

The are an easy way to bake some individual casseroles, gratins or use them as serving dishes. Retro pratical flair. I bought them very reasonably so can pass them on reasonably as well. Price is for the set of three.

Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of America's past. Sturdy, dependable, dishwasher-friendly, it is ready for your kitchen table today.  This Georges Scatchard early 4 1/4 inch tall x 4 1/4 inch wide at the mouth planter / vase is a good example of the work that Scatchard was doing in the 1970s and early 1980s before he decided to concentrate primarily on lamps. The inside of the rim shows the glaze which he used on the outside of the mug. You can see all the ridges of the hand thrown object. The outside of the goblet is done in tans and beiges and one can see both inclusions and the horizontal rings from the throwing. The mug is signed on the unglazed bottom G. SCATCHARD . A beautiful piece.

Currently located in Underhill, Vermont, Georges Scatchard started from a converted horsebarn with his brother Ted in 1960. An article about the two Scatchard brothers and their ceramics was published in the 1967 Spring issue of Vermont Life on pages 38-42. According to the article, he was the only New Englander to receive a merit award for three items (all pottery) entered in the 1965-1966 New England Craft Council's exhibition for new and emerging craftsmen.

His current website, gslamps.com, shows his current production and gives a brief history of his work.   This set of four 6 1/4 inch wide cereal bowls were made by Corning and sold under the Corelle brand to be go-alongs with their tremendously popular Pyrex patterns.

This pattern is called Butterfly Gold and can be seen on page 162 of Mauzy's 3rd Edition (2004) Pyrex the Unauthorized Collector's Guide book. The bowls are in good vintage shape and ready to give you years of service. So, if you already own the Butterfly Gold mixing bowl or refridgeraor set, this set of cereals bowls will fit right in.

Add them to your Pyrex or Corelle by Corning collection today.  Standing 3 1/2 inches tall, this Noritake Art Deco figural flower frog depicts what to me seems like a kingfisher (serious birder here). The stump with the five openings for flower stems is done in Noritake's classic tan luster. The back and head of the bird are done in blue luster. The bill is black as are the pupils. The irises are yellow with a purple band through the eye. The feet are black. It is marked with the standard MADE IN JAPAN mark. I guarantee it to be Noritake.

A very similar figurine is shown on page 172 of David Spain's 1999 Collecting Noritake A to Z book and is valued there at $260-290. As I bought this very reasonably my price is much lower.

It is in excellent vintage condition. Add it to your Noritake, Art Deco or bird inspired collection today.

She is 7.5 inches tall, and she is similar in size and type to the Storybook Dolls, Princess Ann, Virga, and similar dolls. She still has her original auburn mohair wig that covers her head. Her arms move, but her legs and head are stationery. She is wearing her original Scottish outfit consisting of a long sleeve red and green plaid taffeta dress with a pleated skirt, a matching scarf with metal motif, a black felt vest, a white ribbon sash with tie, and painted on white with black boots trimmed with black ribbon with white flower motifs, and white net underpants. This previously owned vintage doll is not perfect, but she is one of the better looking one of these I have seen and is classified as in very good to excellent condition. Annemarie Davidson (1920-2012) learned her enameling craft first from the great Doris Hall (1907-2001) in Cambridge, MA in 1957. In California she continued her studies with Curtis Tann. Her combination of geometric and organic form in her designs culminated in her most celebrated abstract designs, her Jewel line which features pieces of glass used to create free-form organic shapes which she calls Jewels. She also uses a sgraffito technique, incising straight lines from the center of her plate with the sharp point of a dart. Now in her late 80s, she no longer produces work today as of 2011 I have been told.

This 7 3/4 inch diameter low bowl, most likely from the 1960-1961 time period, is a good example of an earlier Ghostline piece. This plate features 3 large yellow gold jewels and 3 smaller pumpkin orange jewels, all symmetrically arranged on the plate. The lines are under the Jewels. A prominent Palm Springs CA dealer James Elliot-Bishop on his website has named this pattern as Ghostline. This particular example is unusual in that the two colors of jewels used are not in high contrast to each other as on many of her pieces. Also, this shape bowl was often used in the earlier 1958-1959 period.

The back of the plate has the gold paper label and is signed with her charcteristic AD interwined intiial. I believe this particular version of the label predates the more common one with the black line. It reads Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre California. Every piece was handcrafted by her alone, from start to finish.

It is in excellent condition.

The work of Annemarie Davidson was included in the seminal exhibit titled Painting with Fire which opened in Jan 2007 at the Long Beach Museum of Art. She was one of 30 enamelists included with a one page entry on her life and work. Her page is page 266 of the catalogue.  Good-bye New York Gene Doll Outfit, No. 93501, is from 1999 when Gene and her accessories were produced by Ashton-Drake Galleries. The outfit is a part of the wardrobe of a fashion doll who represents a fictional character who was previously known as Katie Marshall before her acting days. The doll costume was designed by Mel Odom. for the 15.5 inch fashion doll. This outfit represents an outfit that Katie Marshall wore when she left New York for Hollywood around 1941 to pursue an acting career. The outfit includes a two-piece brown tweed and crepe wool suit with fur accents worn with a brown and white jersey blouse, brown fur hat and matching muff with a pocket for Gene's hanky. Jewelry includes golden teardrop earrings and a heart shaped scatter pin with chain. Matching brown high heel shoes, pantyhose, and a hat box are included. Also going is her childhood friend, a white jointed teddy bear. This is a retired Limited Edition that is mint in a window box package with her certificate and booklet. It has 44 pages with large print and color illustrations on each page. This was copyrighted by Macmillan, Inc. in 1988, and published by Lynx Books. The characters and drawings are based on the creations of Johnny Gruelle. The book is preowned and gently used. The cover is intact. The pages of the book are intact and in excellent condition. The book is meant for a young child to read, though it is also good to read to a child. In this book Raggedy Dog learned that it was no fun to play with a ball all by himself; it was not fun unless it was shared with the other dolls and toys. When the people are away the dolls, stuffed animals, and young animals come to life and talk and interact with one another in drawings like classical ones. Its ISBN number is ISBN 10: 1558021140.  Annemarie Davidson learned her enameling craft first from the great Doris Hall (1907-2001) in Cambridge, MA in 1957. This 11 1/4 inch plate, most likely from the 1961-1962 time period, is unusual for its size. It is scarce to find plates larger than her more standard 6-7 inches. This plate features 5 large light blue jewels, 12 smaller cobalt blue jewels . The underlying copper color can be seen near the edges. A prominent Palm Springs CA dealer James Elliot-Bishop on his website has named this pattern as Grooveline.

What is interesting about this particular plate is the asymmetric placement of the jewels. Davidson was usually quite symmetric in her placement. There are few pieces where the smaller jewels appear singly as on this large plate.

The back of the plate is signed with her charcteristic AD interwined intiails and her paper label which reads Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre California. Every piece was handcrafted by her alone, from start to finish. Excellent condition.
