This elegant vase is typical of the work of Bitossi – or more precisely the artistic wing of Bitossi called Flavia - where Aldo Londi, was Art Director from 1946. Based in Montelupo, Tuscany, Bitossi exported pieces from Italy under both the Raymor and Rosenthal Netter labels.

This vase carries a rectangular paper Rosenthal-Netter label. The name Rosenthal-Netter is white on a black rectangle within the label which also states CREATED IN ITALY FOR. There is also an impressed ITALY into the bottom of the glazed bottom vase, along with the numbers 69/3. It is in excellent condition.

The pattern was created by creating small depressions in the body of the piece before firing, along with the sgrafitto technique of incising the lines forming the outlines of the paisely motifs. The red clay base body is glazed in a harvest gold color with accent colors of pumpkin orange and avocado green. So Midcentury Modern! So Eames era! So fifites and sixites!!

This is a striking Fratelli Fanciulacci Italy vase using the very popular sgrafitto technique popular in the 1950s. This vase most likely was part of the Raymor line of imported Italian pottery and ceramics.

It stands 10 5/8 inches tall and is 4 1/4 inches wide at the base. The heavy red base clay is glazed in a whitish tan glaze. Using sgrafitto incising, the decorator created a large Egyptian figure carrying two pots. There are also three cartouches on the back where the clay has been carved out and enamel dots have been added.

The condition is very good considering this type of decoration is quite fragile. There is a small flake at the rim that happened long ago. I see no other damage. There are areas of the vase where the sgrafitti left some areas without the white underglaze but this is not damage.

The colors of the figure are yellow, orange, blue, red, green with a pink face, brown body and hair. I have not seen many other Mid century Fratelli Fanciulacci pieces with this decoration. The base also carries the initials VP. It appears that the botte vase may have had a cork as there is still one inside the vase.

In California she continued her studies with Curtis Tann. Her combination of geometric and organic form in her designs culminated in her most celebrated abstract designs, her Jewel line which features pieces of glass used to create free-form organic shapes which she calls Jewels. She also uses a sgraffito technique, incising straight lines from the center of her plate with the sharp point of a dart. Now in her late 80s, she no longer produces work today as of 2010 I have been told.

This 7 inch plate, most likely from the 1961-1962 time period, is a good example of an earlier Ghostline piece. This plate features 3 large turquoise blue jewels and 6 smaller cobalt blue jewels, all symmetrically arranged, yet asymmetrically placed on the plate as the whole design is off center. The lines are under the Jewels. A prominent Palm Springs CA dealer James Elliot-Bishop on his website has named this pattern as Ghostline.

The back of the plate still has the three large brown felt pads, the full gold paper label and is signed with her charcteristic AD interwined intiail. Her paper label reads Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre California. Every piece was handcrafted by her alone, from start to finish. There are two tiny areas of some enamel loss to the rim. They are hard to see. One has to look hard to find them. It is in good vintage but not excellent condition, but it sure still looks great on a wall!

The work of Annemarie Davidson was included in the seminal exhibit titled Painting with Fire which opened in Jan 2007 at the Long Beach Museum of Art. She was one of 30 enamelists included with a one page entry on her life and work. Her page is page 266 of the catalogue.  Tom Tierney's 1999 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Paper Dolls by Dover Publishing is a tribute to a remarkable woman. New, mint.  Charlotte Whatley's Alice in Wonderland Paper Dolls: Through an All New Looking Glass uses costumes similar to the Disney Tim Burton release in 2010. There's 32 pages containing the 16 characters and costume changes including the older Alice, the Mad Hatter, Red and White Queens, rabbit, and various other characters from Lewis Carrol's books with a modern twist. Prepare to fall down the rabbit hole and plunge through the looking glass again — Alice is getting edgy with this modern paper-doll interpretation. Replete with stunningly original costumes and accessories, these 16 dolls crackle with steampunk style, a creative combination of science fiction, fantasy, and Victorian-and Edwardian-era fashions. This is a vibrant re-imagining of the classic story. Paper dolls and costumes are to be cut out, and may be too detailed for a young child. In color. New, mint.

Made in Bristol Vermont, this Moutain Kiln Pottery 4 inch square 4 rest ashtray was made by either John F. Kennedy or Paul T. Kennedy, brothers who formed Green Mountain Wood Crafters in Charlotte Vermont in 1937 and worked there until a fire in 1942.

Post WWII, they were located in Bristol Vermont until 1959. They moved into the former Sheffield Farms building on Route 22A in Vergennes in 1960, adding a gift shop where tourists were able to watch the wood ware being made. From 1960-1980 they had several retail locations in Florida, New York, New Hampshire but the most successful was in downtown Burlington at the corner of College and Church street, now Sweetwater's restaurant since 1980, though the Kennedy family still owns the building.

The earliest piece I have heard of is a pitcher dated 1947. I do not yet know when the pottery stopped operating. I now know that whichever brother was not involved with the wooden ware Vergennes operation opened a store in New Haven, VT which was operating as late as 1971 when an acquaintance's grandmother stopped and bought some pottery marked as Pittsfield Potters there.

In excellent condition, it is glazed in a multi-hued green-blue glaze. The base clay appears to be a red eartheware. It is marked with the incised initials MKP and Bristol, VT.  Ty, Inc. from 1998-1999, Valentina, No. 4223, the Magenta Red Bear with a White Heart beanie baby plush.
