Great Expectations Antiques

This is a nice clean cross-cut hand-saw featuring the wheat pattern carved handle. The saw also has the patent marked medallion on the handle "WARRENTED SUPERIOR PAT. DEC. 27 1887". This patent was held by Simonds Saw Mfg. Co. in Fitchburg Mass. Simonds made saws for various hardware dealers across the US and Canada, and had plant facitilies in both countries in the early 1900's. This saw has no hardware dealer etch on it, in fact no etch at all. The blade is 26" long and 8 sharp teeth per inch. The blade is very clean with just a few stains, has the skew back style, and is about 98% straight, or not quite perfectly straight, but in good+ useable condition. The handle is very solid with some edge chips, but over 95% intact, and with a good bit of the original clear finish intact. Certainly one of the nicest Simonds saws we have had to offer! Quite hard to find in this nice condition!
