More Than McCoy

Manufacturer: Taunton Vale Co.
Gorgeous Staffordshire covered dish. This gorgeous white cheesekeeper, or small covered torte cake dish, has a black underglaze mark that says: A Taunton Vale Company, with a fox like animal in the middle, a banner with the word Howard in it underneath the animal, and under that it reads: Staffordshire England. The mark looks quite old, but I do not know when this particular item was made. Kovels shows one backstamp, but not this particular backstamp. This beautiful dish is in very good condition, just all-over very faint crazing that you need readers on to see. Taunton Vale started in business in 1886 and took over Royal Winton? Some net research shows this company may have been taken over by Staffordshire Potteries Ltd. which is no longer in business as of 1980, but not positive. The plate itself is 9.5 wide, the cover is about 7.5 wide, and it is about 6.5 inches high, and the lid has a vent hole. This lovely white covered dish would go great with country, traditional and even contemporary decor.
