Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: 1919-24
Condition: Good++
Manufacturer: STANLEY NEW BRITAIN CONN. U.S.A.
This is a very clean Stanley No. 3 smooth plane with the rosewood handles standard smooth bed bottom. It has no cracks and the Japanning is about 70% intact. The rosewood handles look great with some of the lacquer worn off, but no major wear or damage.  The blade is sharp and has plenty of stock left for future resharpening. The blade is marked with the SW (Sweetheart) logo and reads "STANLEY SW MADE IN USA" on it. The bed is marked with 1 patent date,that is "APR-19-10" just behind the frog, and is marked "BAILEY NO. 3" in the front knob area. Also please note the "STANLEY TOOLS" logo sticker on the tote handle.  This plane is 9" long and has a 1-3/4" wide blade. The condition is very good working order, with a good flat bottom, some minor pitting on about 30% of the bare metal surface, not rusty now at all. Overall a very nice, clean, smaller plane!
