This is a very nice, early scrub plane marked "STANLEY SW MADE IN U.S.A." on the cutter, with the SWEETHEART logo. The toe is marked "STANLEY" and there is a "NO. 40" mark just behind the front knob. The Japanning is about 90% intact, no rust, no damage, some minor pitting is small areas here and there, mostly on the side walls of the main casting. This plane is in very good shape overall with the only light wear on the front knob and tote, such as minor dings and bumps, still very solid, and the tote and handle screw hold both snug in place.. The original cutter is sharp, ready to use, with plenty of stock left for future sharpening. The cap cover and screw work fine holding the cutter in place. The cutter is about 1.2" wide and the plane is 9.75" long. The bottom is clean and flat, a little wear, some very minor scratches, no rust anywhere, very clean, no cracks anywhere. Very nice antique Sweetheart scrub plane overall!
