Antique stoneware beehive jug. c.late 18th, early 20th C. A great old stoneware jug that is identical to the larger one I have for sale. It is 8 tall x 5.75 wide across bottom rim. No chips or cracks, just some all-over faint crazing. An identical jug is shown on pg. 15 of the book on Colorado Pottery by C. Carlton, 1994 edition and on pg. 72 of the 1981 Red Wing book by G. Tefft. Most of the old American pottery companies made these items. Photo 8 is from the 3/12 issue of Country Sampler mag. This was likely a moonshine jug in its heyday.
