Manufacturer: Bromwell's Sifters
Neat find out of a home, a vintage Bromwell's Measuring Sifter, this one with the red painted wood handle or knob on one side. This is the 3 cup size, with markings for One, Two and Three Cups. This vintage sifter shows a patent with "PAT. No. 1,753,995". The front states "Bromwell's, Made in U S A, Measuring-Sifter, Guaranteed" above the patent info. All words & numbers are raised lettering on the front side, impressed outwardly from the inside. The U.S. Invention Patent number dates to 1930, but we don't know the exact age of this sifter.

Measures about 5 5/8 inches tall, about 4 1/2 inches greatest width across the top (while top circular opening, not exactly a circle, measuring 4 3/8 inches wide in one direction and 4 1/2 inches wide in another), about 5 1/2 inches total width including either wood crank handle or metal holding handle to opposite sifter side.

We've provided 7 images to show from all sides including the top and bottom views. These were shot using the camera lighting which can cause white "hot spots" on the tin surface and changes or lightens the coloring. This piece has an all-over dark gray color. You don't see tarnished spots on this piece, it is already fully tarnished and a dark color, which looks darker in person than could be shown in the images due to the lighting. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Old used vintage condition which shows its age & use wear. The crank handle turns fine but with a jerky motion. There is some slight denting/bending to this piece, not large dents but the front rim and right below this are flattened a bit above the "MW" in Bromwell's with other slight dents/unevenness visible when looking at the top rim and upper sides (not bad, but there). There are a lot of orange rust spots visible, particularly along the bottom outer edge but also on the outer body, holding handle and interior (this is not all-over rusted, just many visible places on the dark gray metal). The wood handle spins easily and shows a good bit of age/use overall, no cracks but very tiny edge chipping at the top handle where there is also significant darkening/black wear, other wear/rubbed wear/surface wear/darkening to the handle body over the top half, lesser but still wear/darkening on the bottom half, etc. The tin body has scratches, pit/indent dots, surface wear/rubbed wear, line indents, etc., and other general wear. This old kitchen piece has a good bit of use wear that supports believability of age and adds to the vintage look.

A good addition to any collection of vintage kitchen utensils, gadgets, tools, etc., or one specifically related to baking and sifters. Would also look fun on display in a bakery or restaurant or repurposed for other decor/uses.

Please note that we have many other kitchen items listed separately for sale. If you wish to purchase more than one, please e-mail us before placing the order since the shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just one and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we would be pleased to handle this for you).
