Neat find out of a home. This is a vintage Christmas tree ornament figure of what we believe to be Mrs. Claus or Mrs. Santa Claus. She is made of soft rubber (you can squeeze her) with felt and cloth applied to the body for her clothes. There is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this piece, but our best guess is that this is from the 1950's or 1960's, likely made in Japan, and a mid-century modern ornament. It is definitely an older piece and not new.

This old Mrs. Claus has a wonderful fully formed face with smiling cheeks, blue eyes with dark long lashes, white eyebrows and bangs for her hair, a red smiling mouth and even forehead lines to suggest her age. To us, with her outstretched arms and one foot slightly in the air, we think she is playing, running or even ice skating (although there are no skates on her feet). They have used white pipe cleaners to trim her red hat (which has a small pipe cleaner pom pom at the end), and to suggest the neck and bottom of her dress. The red hat and her red body is all made of a flocked or felt-type material. She is wearing a red checked cloth apron that is tied with a green ribbon with the ribbon ends flowing in the back. She must be wearing red flocking gloves (you don't see her hands) with white trim at her wrists, and her legs/feet are also the red flocking (no visible separate shoes).

Measures about 3 5/8 inches long/tall, with a greatest width of about 2 1/2 inches and depth of about 1 1/2 inches. There is a gold cord looped through a curved wire in her hat for ease in hanging (she cannot stand on her own). She is light in weight, weighing just under 3 1/2 ounces unpacked, and will be shipped in a box for protection.

While appearing in very nice condition overall, please note in the last image that this vintage Mrs. Claus ornament has a small hole in the bottom of one foot. We don't know if this is how she was made or if someone did this later to try and put her on a stand so that she could be displayed upright on a table. Otherwise, we don't see any chips, cracks, crazing or pieces missing. There is a bit of dust on her clothes, occasional spots/wear spots, a bit of red flocking missing in spots, etc., other general light wear. As made, there are touches of dried glue in spots and the white trim around one wrist does not completely encircle that wrist in the back. But nothing bad here at all.
